Frequently Asked Questions
How does the procedure work?
Stunning White is a professional teeth whitening treatment that uses a carbamide peroxide gel to bleach the stains from your teeth. The gel is put into a flexible mouthguard that is then inserted around your teeth. A blue LED Light is used as an accelerant meaning that the procedure only takes 15 minutes to brighten your teeth 2-4 shades whiter or for an even brighter smile you can have an extended session for 30 minutes which produces whitening of between 4-6 shades lighter in most individuals
What is the difference between Stunning White and the dentist?
There are several ways in which we are different to the dentist, however the core procedure is the same. Dentist’s are usually a much more expensive process as they usually tailor make a mouthguard that fits your teeth exactly. Stunning White Systems employs a silicone bases system to take an instant imprint of your teeth. The process is usually much lengthier at the dentist, using a take-home kit over a period of a couple of weeks – this is because they generally do not use the blue LED light that we use which acts as an accelerant to the procedure. Dentists usually use a slightly stronger hydrogen peroxide gel.
How long does the procedure take?
The single treatment process takes 15 minutes and another 15 minutes if you would like a second treatment. The second treatment will brighten your teeth 4-8 shades.
What is the cost?
The single treatment is $129.00. If you would like a second treatment it will cost an additional $60.00
How long does the whitening last?
We recommend your next treatment to be in about 4-6 months, although that will depend on how you care for your teeth over that time, and the types of food you eat. Every individual case is different. If you avoid smoking, red wine, coffee and tea, you may be able to retain your new whitened colour for 18 months to 2 years.
Is the procedure safe?
The Stunning White System has been proven safe and has been backed by research and experience to assure its safety. You may experience a slight tingling sensation during the treatment however this is normal.
Is it damaging? Does it hurt?
The procedure bleaches the stains from your teeth whilst no effecting the enamel which makes it a safe procedure. The procedure should not hurt. You may feel some tingling or tooth sensitivity during the procedure with the peroxide on your teeth and gums, however this is temporary. Due to not being able to moisten your lips they may feel slightly dry during the procedure which can be a little uncomfortable.
Are we dentists ?
No. As the procedure is purely a cosmetic one, there is no need to have a dentist to whiten your teeth
What are the risks?
All forms of health treatment, including teeth whitening have some risks and limitations. Tooth sensitivity, gum and soft tissue irritation and any other dental restoration work (for example: fillings, crowns, veneers) may not whiten at all or evenly. We recommend you do not proceed with treatment if you are pregnant (or trying to fall pregnant), breastfeeding, and suffering from gingivitis (gum disease), have advanced tooth decay or have peroxide allergies.
What if I have sensitive teeth/gums?
It depends on how sensitive they are as most people have some teeth/gum sensitivity. During the procedure some clients experience tooth sensitivity and this can be heightened for people who already have sensitive teeth. If at any time you are feeling discomfort during the procedure we will stop the treatment and you will not be charged
What if I have caps?
You can have your teeth whitened even if you have caps; however you must be aware that the caps will not whiten as your teeth do. If your caps are old and your teeth are slightly darker than the caps, this process is ideal. Also, if your caps are at the back of your mouth then you will probably not notice any difference. If you caps are on your main teeth you may still proceed with treatment, however results may not be consistent?
Can you claim the procedure through Medicare?
As the procedure is purely cosmetic it is not able to be claimed through Medicare
